History of the Business

Byorek's Knotty Pine restaurant, famously known for its pork barbecues and other unique

dishes, is being reborn as “The Pines” in downtown Hazleton. The original restaurant, a Hazleton-area landmark for 73 years, closed in 2010, but Bernie and Susan Byorek agreed to sell the name and original recipes to the DeAngelo family, who sees this as an opportunity to bring back the best of dishes and décor of the original Pines with a different, unique flair. The restaurant will open within the Hayden Tower at the Markle this summer.

***Fun fact*** Pork BBQ: In 1941 the Knotty Pines original pork BBQ sandwiches cost 15 cents each and remained their best selling menu item!
