In 1974, Defiance Rotary Club broke ground for an administrative building at AuGlaize Village. That same year, negotiations began with the Defiance County Commissioners to take title of the farm and village. This was to be a permanent establishment between the County and the Historical Society to ensure the longevity of the Village. The Administrative Office houses a handicappable restroom, potable water, the Society's paper archives including over 3,000 photographs and nearly 100 turn of the century business ledgers. The space also exhibits an overview of Defiance's development beginning with it's Indian hunting-grounds in the midst of the Great Black Swamp.
