ROUBIDOUX PLAZA, 115 N.BENTON ST: The plaza’s footprint occupies two former storefronts. The southern half was once home to Dodd’s General Store building while the northern half housed Waynesville’s first movie theater. The Wayne Theater opened early during the Fort Leonard Wood boom, in April 1941. Later, both buildings were used as Pete Rouse’s Western Auto Associate Store until the business burned.
