Information

This Building was torn down because of a fire in 2020. It is to be replaced by a new building pictured here.

The original building was the Rand Building. Rand built this building for manufacturing upholstered furniture and wholesale-retail sales for that furniture as well as carpets, curtains, damask, and wallpaper. The main building is 90 feet from the curb to the cornice. The foundations are 3 feet thick and the walls 18 inches, with iron columns from the basement to the top supporting girders running from Fourth Street to the alley. The floors are yellow pine and stairways are hardwood. Sutter Drugs was located in the lower floor in the 1960s. It had a wonderful Soda Fountain. Currently, this building is going through major modifications and renovation. The upper three floors Will be condominiums. The main floor will be small businesses and a brewpub possibly.
