Rossana Dewey , born in Toronto, now paints in her Haliburton studio, Art courses at Sheridan College and the Dundas Valley School of Art. She reproduces her observations and perceptions from every-day life and selects subjects that have a personal meaning. With her paintings of the West Guilford community, she hopes to convey the experiences of each place and record these seemingly ordinary landmarks that are vital to local residents. You can see her on the road. She enjoys chatting with passers-by.
About the Work
This painting was done 'in the open air'. As a new resident to the area, I was inspired to paint a part of the livelihood of our community. I set myself up across the Corner Cafe to paint the Auto Center leading into West Guilford. This scene speaks to me about a town. It is these types of shops and services that allow us to live and function locally, making it our home.
West Guilford Auto Center can be viewed at the Dysart and al branch of the Haliburton County Public Library. For more information about the library visit www.haliburtonlibrary.ca
