Throughout the historical district in Albert Lea you will find a unique blend of architectural styles from the late 1800s to early 1900s. These sites helped shape the city of Albert Lea and Freeborn County.
The Historical Walking Tour could be completed in about an hour. We encourage you to stop and explore the many shops, grab a bite to eat, or imbibe in a cold beverage at one of the local restaurants, it would make good use of an entire morning or afternoon. If you decide to take a few detours, this adventure through historical downtown Albert Lea could stretch into an entire day.
This collaboration is made possible by the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the vote of Minnesotans on November 4, 2008. Administered by the Minnesota Historical Society.
